A founder who teaches the teachers.
Gill Enterkin founded WoodChix with one clear aim: to get more women into woodworking. She is the foundation's lead and most qualified tutor, skilled enough to train the teachers themselves — the educators who go on to teach woodworking to students in Australian public and private schools. Through her classes and a good deal of tireless advocacy, she had built a genuine following of people who kept coming back and brought others with them, but the brand and website behind all that energy conveyed almost none of it.
Not-for-profits often treat brand as a nice-to-have. For WoodChix it was doing real work, carrying Gill's story out to people who hadn't met her yet, and as long as it couldn't hold her personality or state the foundation's mission plainly, every new conversation had to start from the beginning. Underneath that sat an operational problem too — classes were filling up through word of mouth and direct messages, leaving Gill to handle every registration by hand, with nothing in place to promote what was coming up.
We rebranded WoodChix from the ground up, with an identity that keeps the warmth of the original while adding the polish and professionalism the foundation had earned, and built a website around two priorities: telling Gill's story well enough to turn a visitor into a booking, and taking the booking process off her plate entirely. We gave the social side a set of templates and a clear voice to work from, and more recently built a custom workshop manager and attendee admin system that takes the manual handling out of running classes.
Gill leads the teaching. The brand and systems we built help her growing team of volunteers carry everything around it.
